I am inspired daily by my fellow Cox Scholars whose ambition, curiosity, and kindness push me to be a better student, leader, and human. Jesse and Beulah have given my family and me the gift of a lifetime. I hope one day to give back to students as they have given to me.

Tell us about your work placement experience.

I work with my fellow scholars to help students reach their academic goals and set themselves up for success. We guide students in navigating and interpreting degree requirements, utilizing degree planning tools, and mastering enrollment systems for seamless registration. As a member of the PAC PR Team, I work to reach students across campus, so our office can help more students take control of their academics and feel confident in their courses.

What is something you have learned through your work?

I have learned what it means to truly be excited about your education. Learning is a gateway to possibilities and through conversations and meetings with my fellow scholars and the students we help, I have seen just how many possibilities there are. The different experiences of all those that enter our small office encourage me to take responsibility for my future, try new things, and take a risk now and then.

How will being a part of the Cox Scholars Program help you in the future?

I owe my future to the Cox Scholars Program. Not only has it allowed me to receive a higher education, but it has given me the opportunity to meet people who will continue to challenge and uplift me well beyond graduation day. The students we work with have taught me to be patient and meet every individual where they are at. We can get much further working together.

What is your favorite memory as a Cox Scholar?

It was my first week on campus as a Cox Scholar. I was an eager freshman, slightly terrified at what lay ahead. After training with my cohort, we all decided to walk to Dunn Woods and go to whatever welcome week event was happening. We asked someone to take a photo. Though it was one of the worst photos of each of us ever documented, it is one of my favorites. College seemed much less scary after that.

What do you do outside of the Cox Scholars Program?

When I'm not in class, working, or at various club meetings, you can find me swimming or kayaking on Lake Monroe, curled up on my porch with a book, or on a long walk around campus with a friend.
