Hoosier history

The Cox Arboretum was first home to the original Memorial Stadium. Later renamed the Tenth Street Stadium, this location was featured in the 1979 film Breaking Away.

The Cox Pavilion

The Cox Arboretum is home to the Jesse H. and Beulah Chanley Cox Pavilion. A stone structure on the northwest side of the arboretum, the pavilion is a prime spot to study or relax in the shade.

The Metz Grand Carillion

Completed in 2020 and standing at 128 feet tall, the Arthur R. Metz Bicentennial Grand Carillon is a musical instrument with 65 bells. Its music can be heard throughout the Arboretum and across the IU Bloomington campus.
