I am blessed to have a family with the Cox Scholars Program—a long-lasting connection with each of the scholars, directors, and supporters.

Tell us about your work placement experience.

As a Peer Academic Coach, I regularly meet with students from diverse backgrounds and with varied educational aspirations and get to help them make the most of their college experience. This often looks like making wise degree-related decisions, providing counsel for navigating complex classroom dynamics, and planning for academic success after graduation. I also have the honor of collaborating with several outstanding Peer Academic Coaches to support students seeking guidance.

What is something you have learned through your work?

I have learned to always place myself in other students’ shoes, to cultivate a sense of empathy to better understand and resonate with their needs or interests.

How will being a part of the Cox Scholars Program help you in the future?

The Cox Scholars Program has been one of the most prestigious awards I have ever received. I now have the means to study not only what I aspire to accomplish as an undergraduate, but also the ability to positively impact global organizations at large through scientific inquiry.

What is your favorite memory as a Cox Scholar?

I really cherished the monthly breakfast and bagels gatherings with our scholarship directors. I sincerely enjoy speaking with the leaders of the Cox Scholars Program and have learned so much from them about navigating the world as a young student. I always meet new people and make new, lasting friendships that are deeply impactful to my college experience.

What do you do outside of the Cox Scholars Program?

Outside of the Cox Scholars Program, I am a daughter to two wonderful Ghanaian parents and a sister to two hard-working brothers. I value spending my time with people I love, nature, and any good books.
