The Cox Scholarship recognizes students with a passion for working hard and grants us the opportunity to pursue our education to the fullest while giving back to the Bloomington community.

Tell us about your work placement experience.

As an Advocate for Community Engagement at WonderLab, I help onboard and manage student volunteers who complete service for their course curriculum. I enjoy getting to work with these students and learning about their passions and aspirations. Within the museum, I also help with different initiatives such as outreach and programming, where I get to work with many different people and learn about non-profit management.

What is something you have learned through your work?

As a peer manager of student volunteers, I have learned how to make connections with people and the value that volunteer service can add for volunteers and patrons of the museum alike. WonderLab has also taught me the value of hands-on education and exploration of the sciences for people of all ages.

What is your favorite memory as a Cox Scholar?

I cannot pinpoint one favorite memory, but I love all the people I have met from being in the Cox Scholars Program. From the first-year students in my cohort, scholars I have met from other cohorts, and the students I have worked with at WonderLab, I have made so many wonderful friendships through the Cox Scholars Program.

What do you do outside of the Cox Scholars Program?

I enjoy exercising, reading a good book, hiking, listening to music, crocheting, and spending quality time with my friends.
